Midweek Thought For Meditation 3/4/26
Hi Everyone,
Our reflection for this week is Doing Good Deeds.
Every morning before sunrise, Mr Bennett unlocked the doors of the small train station cafe’ before sunrise. The town was modest, the platform often quiet except for the 6:10 commuter train and the wind that swept through in winter.
One January morning, he noticed a woman sitting on the far bench. She wore no gloves, her coat thin against the wind. He almost stayed inside but a familiar truth stirred in him: faith must move. He stepped outside with a cup of hot coffee. “The morning’s colder than it looks,” he said gently.
Then he remembered a heavy coat left behind months earlier in the cafe’. He brought it to her. She hesitated.
“One day,” he said quietly, “when you’re warm and able, you’ll do the same for someone else.”
Months later she returned wearing the same coat. She had gotten the job she was traveling to interview for. Now she worked at a community outreach center starting a winter warming program.
“I almost gave up that morning,” she told him. “Your kindness reminded me God hadn’t forgotten me.”
That winter, the cafe became a place where coats and food were gathered for others. No speeches were made. Just light quietly shining—-one simple good deed at a time.
