Midweek Thought For Meditation- 6/24/26

Hi Everyone,

The verses this week remind us that true purity begins within.  God calls us to seek wisdom, strive to live truthfully, and let go of what clouds our heart.  In doing so we are able to be loving, compassionate, and authentic.   As our hearts are purified we are able to see more clearly ourselves, others, and God’s presence that surrounds us.

                                                  Purify your heart.

All you who come before me, hoping to attain the accomplishment of your desires, pray with hearts pure from falsehood, clean within and without, reflecting the truth like a mirror.
SHINTO. Oracle of Temmangu

CHRISTIANTY
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.             Matthew 5:8
Let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit.  II Corinthians 7:1

ISLAM
Know that in the body there is a bit of flesh; when it is sound the whole body is sound, and when it is corrupt the body is corrupt.  Know, it is the heart.                                                                     Hadithof Bukhari
For everything there is an appropriate way of polishing; the hearts polishing is the remembrance of God.       Hadith of Tirmidhi

Water makes external cleanliness.  Truthfulness is the detergent of the heart.                              Tirukkural 298

Just as firewood is turned to ashes in the flames of a fire, all actions are turned to ashes in wisdom’s refining flames.  Nothing in the world can purify as powerfully as wisdom…                                  Bhagavad Gita 4.37-38

JUDAISM
Behold, you desire the truth in the inward being; therefore teach me wisdom in  my secret heart…  Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.                                   Psalms 51.6.10

CONFUCIANISM
When chicken or dogs wander away, people know enough to search for them, but when their heart wanders away they don’t.  The Way of learning is nothing other than this: searching for the heart that’s wandered away.  Meniscus VI.A.11
Therefore the noble-minded examine their hearts, that there may be nothing wrong there.              Doctrine of the Mean 33.2

Can you cleanse your inner vision until you see nothing but the light?             TAO TE Ching 10
