Midweek Thought For Meditation- 6/3/26

Hi Everyone,

This week we look at family as our greatest foundation and our highest blessing.  When we invest love and virtue into our homes, we build a sanctuary rooted in mutual care and respect.  We build a home of peace.  As we consider these verses, let’s take a moment to love, support and cherish those closest to us.

Love and take care of your family.

Those who have relatives hardly touch the ground when they fall.
                     African Traditional Religions.    Gbagyi proverb

CHRISTIANITY

A wise woman builds her house.                                        Proverbs 14:1
Fathers, do not exasperate your children                           Ephesians 6:4
Anyone who does not provide for relatives, and especially for immediate family, has denied the faith.
I Timothy 5:8

ISLAM

Love your Kindred.   He that does a good deed will be repaid  many times over.                Qur’an 42.23
Whoever does the needful for others, Allah does the needful for them.                          Hadith of Bukhari

BUDDHISM

Supporting one's father and mother, cherishing spouse and children and a peaceful occupation; This is the greatest blessing.                               Sutta Nipata 262

HINDUISM

When family life possesses love and virtue, that is both its essence and fruition.     Tirukkural 45

Judaism

He who loves his wife as himself; who honors her more than himself; who rears his children in the right path, and who marries them off at the proper time of their life, concerning him it is written:  “And you will know that your house is at peace.”                 Yebamot 62

CONFUCIANISM

Dwell at home in humility.          Analects 13.19
From the loving example of one family a whole state becomes loving, and from its courtesies the whole state becomes courteous…. Such is the nature of influence.          Great Learning , chapter 9

TAOISM

Cultivate it in yourself and virtue will become real.  Cultivate it in the family and virtue will overflow.                                       Tao Te Ching 54

*Musical links - Love is rooted in respect, compassion, and unity.  As we listen, may we reflect on how love calls each of us to build one another up, and to create relationships where both people can truly flourish.
