Celebrating St. Luke's 250th Anniversary
St. Luke, the physician of folks,
Wrote the words our Savior spoke
and of healings from our Lord's hands
All across the Holy Land.
Seven brave farmers had arrived
in Lanesborough to abide
Since Anglican by bent
found Puritans were they went
In seventeen sixty seven, one morn
St. Luke's Church was born
In the living room of Bradley Farm
the sturdy farmers felt safe from harm.
Morning prayer they were fed
as no priest on hand to led
Until the circuit rider arrived
then all were married, burried and baptized.
The Puritans no symbols decried
so St. Luke's the pilgrims defied
A Christmas tree they had
in a Puritan state it was bad.
Today we serve the town
and those surrounding found
Our focus is on healing all
So that everyone may hear the call.
To grow, to worship, to study
is our mission.
With compassionate outreach
being our commission.
So join with us today
As we celebrate without delay
250 years of being a church
and new missions we still search.
